FAQs

General Service

It depends on what works best for you. We offer both mobile RV service and in-shop service. For many repairs, we can come directly to your RV. For larger jobs, inspections, solar installs, or custom work, bringing the RV to us may be the better option. We’ll help determine the best setup based on the work needed.

Currently we cover all of central Florida.  The front range in Colorado and many of the mountain towns

Click that Book now button and fill out the form or give us a call or text.  Any of them will work.

Response times depend on the situation, technician availability, and your location. We do our best to prioritize urgent issues, especially emergencies or situations where someone is stuck on the side of the road.

For less urgent repairs or minor inconveniences, we will schedule the earliest available appointment. We respect everyone’s time, but sometimes we have to triage calls so the most urgent problems are handled first.

We live in our RV too, so we understand that RV repairs are not just an inconvenience. When your RV is your home, a repair can affect where you sleep, how you keep your food cold, whether you have heat or air conditioning, and how you continue with daily life.

That is a very different situation than someone who uses their RV on weekends and can wait until they get home. We understand those challenges because we live them ourselves, and we do our best to approach full-time RV repairs with that reality in mind

Repairs

We work on nearly every RV system, including electrical, plumbing, appliances, roof issues, slide-outs, leveling systems, awnings, air conditioning, heating, and general repairs.

We also work on generators, handle some mechanical repairs, and install towing equipment for vehicles being towed behind an RV.

In addition, we design and install complete solar and off-grid power systems.

We also handle custom RV projects, including office conversions, bedroom and bathroom remodels, roof tent installations, and other one-of-a-kind modifications. If you can imagine it, there is a good chance we can help build it.

Yes. We carry many commonly used RV parts with us so we can complete as many repairs as possible on the first visit.

That said, the variety of RV brands, models, systems, and components is huge. While we do our best to stock common parts, the reality is that very little is truly “standard” in the RV industry. Some repairs may require us to order a specific part for your RV.

Yes. We handle many common RV repair issues, including slide-outs, water heaters, furnaces, refrigerators, electrical problems, plumbing issues, roof leaks, and general troubleshooting. If the repair requires specialty parts or additional diagnostics, we’ll explain what we find and review the next steps before moving forward.

If we cannot complete the repair during the first visit, we will explain what we found, what still needs to be done, and what parts or follow-up work may be needed. Some RV repairs require specialty parts, additional troubleshooting, or a second visit. We will give you the next steps before moving forward so there are no surprises.

Solar & Custom Mods

Solar installs and custom modifications take real planning up front. The $199 site visit covers the initial visit to evaluate the project at a high level, understand what you are trying to accomplish, and provide a ballpark estimate.

For larger or more complex projects, a final detailed estimate can require several hours of design, planning, measurements, system layout, and parts research. We are happy to do that work, but that detailed estimate time is billed separately. We take pride in doing the job right, and that means taking the time to properly plan the project.

If you are still exploring options, we can start with a ballpark estimate. If you want a final, detailed estimate, that estimate time is billed separately.

Yes. If you move forward with the project, the $199 paid estimate is credited toward the job.

Most detailed solar or custom estimates take time because we need to review your RV, understand your goals, evaluate the existing systems, and build a proper parts and labor plan.

Simple estimates may be completed fairly quickly, while larger solar, off-grid, remodel, or custom modification projects may take longer depending on the complexity of the project.

Yes. We can help design and install complete off-grid power systems, including solar panels, batteries, inverters, chargers, monitoring systems, and related wiring.

We can also help you think through how you actually use power in your RV so the system is designed around your real needs, not just a generic parts list.

Sometimes. We may install customer-supplied parts on a case-by-case basis.

However, we cannot warranty parts we did not provide, and we may decline to install parts that are incorrect, unsafe, low quality, incompatible with your RV, or not appropriate for the job. Labor, diagnostics, additional materials, and any modifications needed to make the part work are billed separately.

DIY / Education

Yes. We offer a complete RV modification course designed to teach you how to build the RV of your dreams.

Whether you want to upgrade your RV, add solar, improve storage, remodel your interior, or plan a custom project, our course helps you understand the process, avoid common mistakes, and make better decisions before you start.

Yes. Our RV modification course is designed to teach you how to plan and complete your own RV upgrades with confidence.

Whether you want to add solar, improve storage, remodel part of your RV, upgrade your off-grid setup, or create a more functional living space, we help you understand the process before you start cutting, wiring, drilling, or buying parts.

We are currently developing RV parts and modification kits designed to make DIY projects easier, cleaner, and less overwhelming.

Our goal is to offer practical kits that help RV owners upgrade, organize, repair, or modify their RV with the right parts, tools, and guidance in one place.

Pricing

What does the $150 service call cover?

The $150 service call covers dispatch and travel to your location. Each service call includes an on-site trip fee, even if we are already in the same RV park or nearby area.

This fee does not include diagnostics, labor, parts, or repairs. Once we arrive, we can evaluate the issue and explain the next steps before any additional work is performed.

No. The service call covers dispatch and travel to your location only. Labor is billed separately.

No. Parts are not included in the service call or labor rate. Any needed parts will be quoted separately before installation.

Our labor rate is $150 per hour, billed separately from the service call fee.

Yes. The $150 service call covers dispatch and travel to your location. Each service call includes an on-site trip fee, even if we are already in the same RV park or nearby area.

Payment is due at the end of each day for the work completed that day.

Some parts may require partial or full payment in advance, depending on the type of part, availability, or ordering requirements.

Warranty / Insurance

Yes. We can help with many warranty claims, including communicating with the warranty company, providing diagnosis information, photos, estimates, and repair documentation when needed.

Warranty companies all work differently, so the process and approval time can vary. Any administrative time required to communicate with the warranty company, submit documentation, or follow up on the claim may be billed separately.

No. Warranty approval is never guaranteed.

The warranty company makes the final decision based on your contract, coverage limits, exclusions, pre-authorization requirements, and their review of the diagnosis. We will provide the information they need, but we cannot control whether they approve or deny the claim.

You are responsible for any charges not approved or paid by the warranty company. This may include the service call, diagnostics, labor, parts, return visits, shipping, administrative time, or any other work performed.

If a claim is denied, we can explain the repair options and help you decide how you want to move forward.

Yes. We can work with insurance-related repairs and provide photos, documentation, estimates, and repair information when needed.

Insurance approval, coverage, deductibles, depreciation, and payment decisions are handled by your insurance company. Any amounts not covered by insurance, including administrative time spent communicating with the insurance company or handling claim documentation, are the customer’s responsibility.

Barefoot Ben's Answers

Barefoot Ben says: “Give us the details before we roll out. Tell us what’s happening, where you are, and what you’re trying to accomplish so we can point you toward the right repair, inspection, solar, or custom service.”

Barefoot Ben says: “The best mods start with a good plan. Before you cut, drill, wire, mount, or order parts, make sure the idea works with your RV, your power system, your weight limits, and the way you actually travel.”

Barefoot Ben says: “Small RV problems have a funny way of turning into big ones. If something smells odd, leaks, trips a breaker, makes noise, or just doesn’t seem right, don’t ignore it. Catching it early usually saves time, money, and campground headaches.”
